There are so many places where the Wien Museum offers you the chance to explore the history of the city not only at the museum but also directly on the spot. This is the house where the great composer Franz Schubert was born on 31 January 1797.

Today a large part of the top floor is dedicated to the memory of the composer. It presents an impressive documentation of his musical development, his circle of friends, and the important stages of his life.

The house also includes the Stifter memorial rooms. Some fifty paintings demonstrate the great Austrian author's talent as a painter.

  • If you are a big Schubert fan have a look. Otherwise you might want to invest the admission money in something else but 5€ is a very fair price. The architecture of the yard is very nice.
  • Interesting to have a glimpse of the life of a famous musician living at his time. Highly recommended for those who wants inspiration.
