  • There is a fountain of Neptune in the middle of the garden and in front of the hill. It is a feeling that white statues are placed and represent the world of Mythology. We arrived a little less than ten minutes walk along the shade from the palace. It was hot in summer when I visited, so I felt a little cool.

  • An artificial rock grotto with larger-than-life figures (about 7 meters) in Schönbrunn Castle Park, again located and aligned on a special axis towards the castle. The design is by Johann Ferdinand Hetzendorf von Hohenberg, the larger-than-life figures are a work of the court statuarius Johann Christian Wilhelm Beyer and are made of white marble, clad in imperial stone. The Neptune Fountain was completed in 1780, because the water had to be supplied abundantly by the back Gloriette pond. Due to a lack of water, the well used to be put into operation only on special occasions, then not at all for a long time. After the last complete renovation, a water cycle was installed and a continuous operation is secured. Maria Theresa no longer had much of the fountain complex, because 1780 was her year of death. The sea god Neptune, which wanders up or soothes the waves of the sea, stood at that time (from the 16th to the 18th century) as a comparison for the sovereign of the respective country. You can't get past him while strolling through the park on the left and you might want to take a little time to look at it.
