In a palatial building, Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien exhibits the Habsburgs' extensive art collection, which was amassed over centuries. Designed by architect Gottfried Semper, the museum is mirrored by an identical building on the opposite side of the Ringstrasse, which houses the Naturhistorisches Museum. Discover works by artists like Vermeer and Rembrandt, as well as a large collection by Pieter Brueghel the Elder. An audio guide offers an in-depth exploration of close to 600 works in the museum, including commentary on the building itself. In addition to the masterpieces on display, the museum includes a reference library of more than 256,000 manuscripts, maps, and historical prints relating to art and cultural history. Se trata de un museo ubicado en un palacio impresionante. Viena es así, monumental por los cuatro costados. Vale la pena la visita. more »It is a museum located in an impressive palace. Vienna is thus monumental on all four sides. It's worth the visit.
If you are an art lover this is the place! I was there for 6 hours and it was amazing. The best thing is they have big sofas in all art room for 1st floor. So if you enjoy one painting/painter you can stay there for a long time. For budget travellers- put food and drinks in bag, put beg in storage closets, come down whenever you want and have a break with the lift/elevator and go up to enjoy art after break.
Elite museum with a range of world class art. There are three floors with a cafe on the first level. The Egyptian area is facinating, and the oil art work is world class. The architecture is also something to see in itself. A must see, and allocate a minimum of 3 hours. Enjoy.
