Discover where the Romans crossed the Alps to make the northern lands part of their empire on your visit to Grossglockner, the highest mountain in the nation. Enjoy the views on the drive up the mountain and then walk to the glacier and waterfalls in the area. Eat at one of the restaurants or pack a picnic and lunch at one the tables along the road. Learn about the natural history and geology of the area from placards offering English and German explanations of sites, and purchase souvenirs from the gift shops nearby. Remember to pack warm clothing, as the temperature drop at the top is significant. Parking and restroom access are included in the toll incurred on the drive to the peak, but note that the road is only open certain months throughout the year, so be sure to check the website for accessibility information. The price is of course already very high (about 37€) but it is worth it. Unfortunately, we were not able to use many of the museums and information points, but there is a lot of information on offer. Great excursion for adults and also for children.

Please make the detours to the various vantage points, it pays off in any case.
