The museum is housed on the Lendkanal in a former ORF medium-wave transmitter. They have many exhibits and documents on local film and cinema history. The special show for the 2019 – will deal with the Carinthian country cinemas. Opening is on June 29, 2019. Very friendly, expert tour of the exhibition, which can also answer special questions. I particularly liked a film about Klagenfurt from 1911, in which the last emperor of Austria also appears. In the evening there was still a cinema evening with a 16mm projector, but unfortunately I ran out of time. In the same house there is also a city transport museum.

In a former ORF broadcasting building - so you can learn at the entrance - the Museum is housed. You can learn much about the first cinemas. So the first cinema presentation in Klagenfurt has taken place already in 1896 and in the Museum's own intranet you can get also a film to do so. My interest is particularly amateur film. The story of the "Schmalfilms" (as an old expression) from 1925 to the present will be shown in display cases. Particularly happy I have the Super-8 display counter, in the even my first movie camera a mini "Eumig" I 1973 got donated to the high school diploma, issued (see picture). A very expert men has led me through the exhibition and tells many stories. -It was a very interesting and rewarding visit to Museum. PS In the same House there is also a Museum of city traffic and with a museum tramway you can go through the protected area.
I was at the cinema museum in Klagenfurt at the weekend. Not easy to find, the museum is housed in an old ORF medium wave transmitter. In addition to the history of Klagenfurt cinemas, the first performance was already in 1896 !!, the special exhibition 2019 will also present the Carinthian country cinemas, of which there were once 50. The amateur film exhibition is also very interesting (see picture) and they also show a film from 1911. And much more, was over 2.5 hours in the museum. In the same house there is also an exhibition about the tram and the boat trip. After being very interested in film and cinema, I liked the cinema museum better.
The cinema exhibition is very small, but quite interesting devices can be seen. Much of the space shows the transport exhibition, which is however not quite as interesting.
