Walkatjara Art
Support the Mutitjulu community with a visit to Walkatjara Art, a not-for-profit art studio and gallery owned and directed by Anangu – local Pitjantjatjara and Yunkunytjatjara people. See the artists at work, learn about their culture, and admire the vibrant paintings on display. Chat with the friendly staff to find out the stories behind each piece of art or purchase one for yourself--50 percent of each sale goes directly to the artist, the rest is re-invested into the running costs of the Art Centre. No photography is allowed in the whole Culture Centre precinct; taking photographs of the artists is not allowed. This is a great way to see how the aboriginal art is made. It was interesting to watch the paintings being created. Some beautiful artwork to view or purchase. more »

more »
It is a small art museum. Aboriginal art and the climate and culture of Ayers Rock and the surrounding area are also introduced. The wild one swells in the interior of Australia, but there is not a chance to see easily...... However, there was okamainco of the seisei here. There are a lot more of them. It was an ornament.View original

Great to be hands on and experience the creation of dot painting in a wonderful environment. Was given a sheet with symbols and markings with their meanings to create our own. Then described to everyone what we made and what it represents. Lovely item to keep.

A great gallery, complete with paintings from around Australia and local art. Bronte helped us and she was very kind to take time to explain the difference in the local style of art versus work from other parts of the country. She was very knowledgeable, knew many local stories, and explained the significance of each type of art. I learned more in 10 minutes with her than my own reading or organized tour. Be sure to stop in and ask questions! A wonderful establishment.
