Uluru, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

Commonly known as Ayer's Rock, this massive piece of sandstone with a circumference of 9.4 km (5.8 mi) rises 348 m (1,142 ft) out of the flat Australian Outback. • An early morning call at 04:00 is not what you want on holiday but to see the sunrise it has to be an early start. It was a short distance from the hotel and we were treated with a hot choc, tea or cof...  more »
  • When in front of me this monolith appeared and dawn still impresses. So quite a bit of daytime sunshine hat and sunscreen is must-have item. The scaffolding is pretty scary places, so is attention. There are many places and die this fall and climb the fact fact the past to present someone slipped and died some. A holy place of Aboriginal people had we climbed seriously not so playful, situation♪. At night, this area is very cold. Is the temperature difference between day and night Festivites, so go prepared.

  • Absolutely beautiful place. So much better than any pic. Well worth a visit. Must do the sunrise and sunset viewing. The walk around it is stunning.
  • Visiting Ayers was a great experience. Australia’s outback is beautiful. I chose to climb to the top. If you do as well, make sure you’re in reasonable physical shape. It is a bit of a climb. I saw people who had no business being up there. But, once you get to the top, the view is incredible. But, like I said, I love the Australian outback. I went during the spring time, and the one thing I couldn’t stand were the flies. It was so bad I had to buy a head net. If you go out there, prepare yourself for that.
  • This is really one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in my life. depending on where you are and the lighting this color is different. the walk around it gives you better perspective on how large and beautiful it really is. bring bug spray tho the flies are in full force here.
  • Fascinating guided tour learning about Aborigine lore and how Uluru is a living landscape. Highly recommended.
  • Very Excellent Views, Breathtaking walk , Temperatures can be a bit high But Flies tend to be a bigger Problem And Aeroguard is a must. It is Advisable to arrive at the Sunset and Sunrise viewing sites as It tends to be filled Quite fast. There is Quite a list of Attractions nearby to View and Quite a list of Walks to Attempt and also Carrying water is a Must As you will become dehydrated quite Quickly, Boiling large amounts of water the night before visiting is advised as it takes a long time for water to cool down due to the high heat temperatures, The alternative is to Just but bottled water at the Various IGAs scattered around. Although most of the tourist information centers tend to have drinking water refill stations and most of the tracks have refill stations as well

Where to stay in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

The extremely remote desert location of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park makes it difficult to find accommodations near the landmark site, despite its incredible popularity. Most guests stay in the "nearby" city of Alice Springs-- 365 km (227 mi) from the park--and take a guided day trip to visit the rocks. If you have your own transportation, consider staying at the solitary hotel near the national park's entrance.
