Thunderbird Park, Tamborine Mountain

Thunderbird Park offers numerous exciting nature adventures and contains the world’s largest deposit of gemstone-filled thundereggs, nodule-like rocks formed during the age of dinosaurs. Explore the park’s wildlife-rich environment and look for thundereggs at your leisure, or choose a variety of mountain activities designed to be enjoyed by adrenaline seekers of all ages. Try cable ladder climbing, balancing on rope bridges, crawling through forest tunnels, or jumping off suspended tree trunks. Visitors looking for less strenuous activities can enjoy bush walking, horse riding, swimming, and birdwatching. A family-friendly mini golf course is also located on the park’s premises. The park features a large food kiosk, serving hot pizzas baked in a wood-burning oven, as well as lots of other food and drink options. Put Thunderbird Park and other Tamborine Mountain attractions into our Tamborine Mountain trip itinerary planning app, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Unfortunately some yobbos busted up the bathroom and the police had to come and close it down for a while, but the staff were excellent and did everything they could to make it great again. The campsites are quite close to each other and basic, but clean and the amenities were good. "Breakfast with the birds" was a disappointment. We were expecting to be feeding lots of pretty or exotic birds, but it was just a couple of kookaburras, a magpie, and soldier birds that came to eat sausages and left over scraps. The lunchtime feeding of parrots was much more what we envisioned, and it was free. No complaints about the quality of food in either the restaurant or cafe. The horse trail ride was excellent. Well organised, good horses and equipment, interesting trail, and the price is reasonable. In some areas the park is a bit rundown, but it looks like they are slowly renovating and improving things, do hope to see it in better condition in future.
  • I visited only for a few hours & I liked it. I had a cup of coffee, it was good & staff are very friendly. It's good for a day trip or camping with family and friends. Restaurant looks very nice. Bird feeding/watching at 2pm was worth waiting.
