Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney

4.7
#2 of 78 in Parks in Sydney
One of the best free attractions in Sydney, Royal Botanic Gardens offers 30 hectares (74 acres) of colorful native Australian plants, decorative fountains and statues, and animals such as possums, flying foxes, water-dragons, blue-tongued lizards, Australian birds, and butterflies. The free daily morning walking tour will introduce you to the gardens, while the scenic Choo Choo Express train tours departing throughout the day cover more of the site's expanse. • A must see. A beautiful place to see a variety of plants and trees. You can enjoy a beautiful view of the opera house and the Sydney Bridge. If you are interested in buying plants, going for a jog, enjoying a picnic or playing some sports.. It's possible.. You can pick up sandwiches or have something to drink as they have shops within the park There is ample of seating area as there is quite a bit to walk.
  • Amazing place. We love their educational programs. There's nothing like Dandelions in Sydney. My kids always looked forward attending their play/educational sessions and making new friends.
  • Beautiful grounds, well maintained, and this place is huge! There are some amazing views here of the harbor & opera house, and lots of birds flying around. There is a cafe and book shop here, as well. There is an entrance right next to the opera house so if you're sight seeing, definitely stop in!
  • Favorite place in Sydney. Great to have a picnic or lounge around in the sun. Plenty of nooks and crannies to claim a spot away from others, but also open spaces for throwing the ball around. The gardens are lovely year round.
  • This is probably my favourite place to spend time in Sydney. Beautiful botanical gardens in an amazing setting in downtown, adjacent to the harbour and opera house. Perfect place for a walk, jog, picnic, read, nap, or anything you can think of that would involve a beautiful setting. The Royal Botanical Garden is a must see.

Where to stay in Sydney

Sydney offers visitors hundreds of lodging options in its central area, with choices suitable for most budgets. As expected in a major tourist destination, harbor views play a major role in determining room prices. Expect to pay more for ocean-view suites, especially if you visit at the peak of the tourist season or around big city events. If you don't need to stay in the center of Sydney, consider budget-friendly hotels near the airport, or look for smaller roadside motels in the city's South West neighborhood.
