  • Very moving place. The visitor centre and sanctuary has a very extensive exhibition of Australia's military encounters that would take an hour or more to read and experience everything. There is also an elaborate search engine with a display wall to find servicemen. Up on the balcony, there is a great view of the city skyline and surroundings.
  • Absolute amazing place! It is from the actions of those depicted here that we all get to live the lives we have today. My greatest wish is that the majority of people in the commonwealth countries stop living such selfish lives and remember what those before us sacrificed, for all this freedom we have. If you are proud of your country weather it is Australia or not this is an amazing place to visit to put everything in your life into perspective.
  • The building looks like a kind of pyramid. When I walked inside, I was feeling a quiet and sacred. The stones used for building are cold and nice! Try touching it with your bare hand!
  • This place is a good place to bring tourist and has lots of stories and events recorded surrounding Aussie soldiers who served in previous wars. Staff here are passionate and tell great stories. Lots to see and explore and learn. Worth the visit. Great view of Melbourne city from the top of the building.
  • Really gorgeous! The surrounding of trees which make a hallway is stunning. The building is magnificent and great for history lovers and photographers. It reminds you of rome. Inside you find interesting history. Having 3 levels, the balcony is a highlight. Beautiful view of the city. It is free to visit. Highly recommend it.

Where to stay in Melbourne

The hub of tourist and commercial activity, the center of Melbourne remains the best place to stay if you're looking to splurge and enjoy every possible modern amenity during your visit. Travelers on a limited budget can search for cozy yet less expensive rooms in the seaside suburb of St Kilda or the bohemian neighborhood of Fitzroy. Though the city center offers more than a fair share of mid-range lodging options, you'll also find plenty of rooms in this price bracket in the quieter suburbs.
