Interesting place but a number of issues that need attention. The building appears unfinished. The This is your life section has cables in bundles hanging down the wall while the TV appears to be plugged into a temporary power point. The building has lots of exhibits but many are " fill materials. " For instance there is a whole wall of Gold,Platinum records when one or two would do. Lots if photo's of other musicians again filling large spaces. The opening promised performance spaces? Appears to be none. The opening also talked of training and research neither appear to be there. There is a major area on the Northern side that appears to be a wasted storage area but accounts for 15-20% of the building. The souvenir shop has a good selection of gifts but when I enquired about a belt was told only one on display if you want one go on-line? Car park proves very inconvenient if its rains. The complex has plenty of space but not well planned. This is evident in the entrance is at the opposite end of the building to the car park. Two major spaces are not assessable when you pay admission the Mates Room & Nulla Nulla gallery, they appear to be function centres. The cafe needs major attention. The staff were never rude they just appear to have few if any customer skills. This was evident by the slow service starting with long times to even get their attention to come to the counter despite 5 yes five staff. They did not know the menu we asked for the cafe and coffee special but were told No only scone and coffee special. I rechecked the board yes cake and coffee listed. The young staff need real down to earth training in customer service they kept walking out front and doing nothing despite dirty plates etc being on tables. They should also realise that when dealing with customers you do not wear you cap inside and especially not on backwards. The food served was however very nice. Why does the cafe close at 2.30 when the venue remains open to 4pm as many people hence income, is lost for the afternoon tea service.
Excellent displays. Service was excellent. Coffee shop great, and plenty of interesting things for sale.
