The Big Bouquet, Healesville

3.3
The Big Bouquet is a modern, working cut flower farm and alpaca stud, located in Healesville in the heart of the yarra valley, only an hour from Melbourne.

Take the opportunity to visit and look behind the scenes. Learn first hand about the growing of top quality gerberas and the breeding of alpacas.

Guided tours run 3 times a day and will take you into the massive three acre glasshouse in which the gerberas are grown and will introduce you to all the aspects involved in producing these stunning cut flowers. They also include an informative talk on alpacas, as well as an opportunity to take a close look at these friendly creatures.

Alpacas are for sale and for people wanting to enter the alpaca industry, ongoing support and advice is only a phone call away. The educational display in the visitor centre will lead you through the fascinating science of gerbera propagation and growth. All attractions are under cover and in the glasshouse you can enjoy the comfort of a minimum year round temperature of 18°C.

In the giftshop you’ll find locally made and imported alpaca products ranging from raw fleeces through to luxurious garments made from alpaca fibre blended with silk. The range includes coats, scarves, wraps, jumpers, cardigans, hats, blankets, knitting yarns etc. The shop also has a large choice of locally produced culinary delights. Gerbera plants and flowers are also for sale.

  • Must admit, we did only visit for the Alpacas and we weren’t disappointed. My 2 adult kids were thrilled to be able to feed and stroke them! A great way for the young and old to pass an hour!  more »

  • good place to stop. quiet cafe with shop. coffee is good quality and you can nip next door and buy some flowers. There is a land garden with a playground so the kids can play. I think you could have a picnic on the lawn and look at the Alpacas. The shop has hand bags, scarves etc.
  • This place is free! It's beautiful and the alpacas are sooo cute! The only thing you pay for is if you want to feed the alpacas and it's super cheap or if you want to sit down and buy a snack or a coffee. They even have a cute playground for the kids and a trampoline area.
