Cairns Aquarium, Cairns

#15 of 20 in Parks in Cairns
Aquarium · Hidden Gem · Zoo / Aquarium
Commemorating soldiers from Cairns who served in World War I, Cairns Aquarium includes a memorial garden with 142 names of men and women. The monument was first unveiled in 1926 at another site, and then relocated in 1972. Notice how the painted replicas of the original clocks all show the same time--the time the ANZAC forces landed at Gallipoli in 1915. • Good lunch, but my entrance fee omitted the area where snakes and creepies were. We had a nice lunch at the restaurant inside.  more »
  • Spend a while in thought as you wander through here. Peaceful and beautiful. Great views and kept spotlessly clean.  more »
  • Wow! What an absolutely incredible experience. We have just left the twilight experience. The level of service by every single staff member was top notch. The food, fantastic. Fancy. Delicious. Very well presented. Super fresh. I don't really recommend for kids under maybe 5. Our almost 3 year old was STARVING by the time we got to the entrè and sadly we had to cut our tour a little short as he just couldn't wait any longer. But, that said he did so well for about 1h45m of the 2hr tour. I would happily do this again and visiting Cairns Aquarium is something I will certainly recommend to everyone that I know. Thank you for having such an informative, interesting, clean and gorgeously presented aquarium.
  • As someone who has lived and worked in Far North Queensland their whole life, I found the Aquarium to be very educational. The building is designed incredibly well. Your visit starts out with fresh water species and transitions to salt water as you journey through. The information and species on display depict all the different stages of our ecosystem and are visually stunning. Along the way there are many things to read, tunnels to climb through and life sized statues to admire. Visiting here would be a rewarding experience for families, school groups or anyone who is interested in the environment. Of course, a huge thank you to the staff as well, their friendly disposition made our experience all the more enjoyable from check in until we departed.
