South Bank Parklands, Brisbane

4.7
Sitting along the Brisbane River, South Bank Parklands sits in the heart of Brisbane. Towering over the park at 60 m (197 ft), the Wheel of Brisbane Ferris wheel offers you a panorama of the city and its surrounding. When your ride finishes, head to Streets Beach, a manmade beach spreading out over 2,000 sq m (21,500 sq ft) and containing a base of 4,000 cubic meters (5,200 cubic yards) of sand with another 70 tons brought in every summer. Here you can swim in chlorinated fresh water and relax under the shade of a palm tree. Other attractions include the traditionally designed Nepal Peace Pagoda and flowering bougainvillea on the 443 curling steel columns of The Arbour. Numerous restaurants and cafes offer dining options. Arrange your visit to South Bank Parklands and discover more family-friendly attractions in Brisbane using our Brisbane vacation planner .

  • Great place to take the kids with a lot of food places to choose from. The swimming area is great for both adults and kids. The kids really like the children's area. Prices may be a little high but it is to be expected around here.
  • One of my favourite spots in town. Good to go there at any time and in any day of the week. Parking is a bit limited but not impossible. Lovely pool area by the river and nice restaurants. Love it!
  • Always improving areas and expanding. Great place to sit & read a book, or can go to the pub or local bar. Man made beach area is great for kids & they have showers & toilets available. My absolute favourite restaurant Ole is nearby too, so it's lovely to go for dinner after swimming or biking. Very busy on the weekends so if you like a more layed back feel go during the week.
  • South Bank Parklands are a great place to have fun. There is a great view of the Brisbane River and the City cat stops. Beautiful gardens and kids park. There is also a pool and an artificial beach to enjoy in a typical Brisbane summer day. Live music In South Bank Parklands there are many different things to do, eat delicious food, enjoy the live music, have a few beers on the bars, buy souvenirs, among other great activities. Markets on Sundays as well to do some shopping and contribute with the young designers. Absolutely recommended
  • Southbank parkland have come a long way since the redevelopment undertaken for Expo 88, the trees and now fully grown and the landscaping has continued to be updated each year. It never seems to look dated and now with the restaurant precinct adjacent it has become a hub to sit and relax and watch the world go by. The beach is being updated again but does not detract from the enjoyment to be had here. It's also a great place to get in some exercise with many km of walking/cycling/running tracks.
