Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bendigo

4.8
One of the largest Australian churches and the country's second tallest after St. Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne, Sacred Heart Cathedral presents a fine example of English Gothic architecture. The church was built mostly through the collection efforts of the first Catholic priest on the Bendigo goldfields. Inside are intricate marble floors and a huge pipe organ. From outside, the church is easy to spot, with an 87 m (285 ft) steel-framed spire towering above the church. Because this is a functioning cathedral, you can attend mass here. • This church is amazing! I could see it from the other side of Bendigo and thought I want to go see that. I eventually made my way across town and parked to enjoy this huge church on foot. The gardens surrounding the church are very well kept. I went inside to enjoy this place, the I side is just as impressive as the outside. If you have not seen this I would definitely recommend checking it out. I rate this place as 5/5 stars. I didn't take any pics as it felt disrespectful
  • This church is beautiful especially at night when it's all lit up, l was staying at the cathedral hotel and had a perfect view from the window at the church. Going inside of the church was great with such high ceilings, beautiful architecture and the stained glass windows were nice to look at.
